Counselling & Psychotherapy with Sandy Dias Andrade Read (about Founder-Director)

One to one counselling and psychotherapy sessions, rooted in Mindfulness and Presence, are offered at the Just Being Center by Sandy Dias Andrade. She works with all age groups and works with a trans-diagnostic perspective rooted in Mindfulness and Presence. She is skilled in working in the cognitive (thoughts), affective (feelings) and somatic (bodily) domains and thus uses an eclectic approach that flows with who the client is, respecting the process that will benefit the client the most. The psychotherapeutic process is then more accompanying the client in his or her movement towards wholeness and growth. She also engages in trauma resolution work and also offers sessions in Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST).
She also runs groups for Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and other listening circles.

Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)

MBCT is one of the fastest growing mindfulness based interventions. It is based on the MBSR program and developed by Zindel Segal specifically for those who have recovered from depression and anxiety. Research has found that it helps participants to not only stay well but also to encounter themselves and life more fully.

Over the eight weeks of the program, the practices helps you become familiar with the workings of your mind, notice when you begin to get caught in old habits of the mind that reactivate downward mood spirals, explore ways of releasing yourself from old habits and if you choose, enter a new way of being, put you in touch with a different way of knowing yourself and your world. The MBCT program also helps you notice the small beauties and pleasures in the world around you instead of living in your head, being kind to yourself instead of wishing things were different or driving yourself to meet impossible goals, accepting yourself as you are rather than judging or battling yourself all the time.

The MBCT program runs thrice a year and is facilitated by Sandy Dias Andrade who continues her training and mentorship program in MBCT through the University of California San Diego, Center for Mindfulness.
