The Program is facilitated by Sandy Dias Andrade, certified MBCT Teacher through the Center for Mindfulness, University of California, San Diego, USA.
*Note:
What is MBCT?
MBCT is a widely used, evidence-based mindfulness intervention. It is based on the Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR) eight week program, developed by Jon Kabat Zinn in 1979 at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center.
Zindel Segal, Mark Williams and John Teasdale adapted the MBSR program to especially support people who had suffered from repeated bouts of depression in their lives.
MBCT combines mindfulness meditations and aspects of cognitive therapy. Participants learn to apply the insights from the practice to their daily lives. It involves a particular way of inquiry into experience that a trained facilitator holds space for.
Who is it for ?
It is particularly useful to those who have had depression and/or anxiety. It has been found applicable to other clinical conditions as well.
The UK National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) has endorsed MBCT as an effective treatment for prevention of relapse. Research has shown participants develop improved efficacy in recognizing habitual patterns of mind.
