MBCT is an evidence based eight-week program for relapse prevention for those who have had depression or anxiety and are well now.
Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy combines mindfulness meditations and aspects of cognitive therapy. Participants learn to apply the insights from the practice to their daily lives. It is more than a relapse prevention program. It is a whole new way of being! It involves a particular way of inquiry into experience that a trained facilitator holds space for.
It is particularly useful to those who have had depression and/or anxiety. It has been found applicable to other clinical conditions as well.
There will be a meeting with the facilitator to ascertain if the program is right fit for you and to let you know more about the program. The group comes together once a week for eight weeks for 2.5 hours and there is practice in between sessions to deepen the learning. There is a day long practice towards the latter part of the course. The course is facilitated by Sandy Dias Andrade, internationally certified in MBCT through the Center for Mindfulness, University of California, San Diego.
MBCT groups run both in-person at the center in Pune and online.
