The practice of Mindfulness needs to be modified in accordance with the individual or group’s personal and collective history. It is of special importance to not just have an understanding of trauma but also know how to support the physiology. It is also critical to inhabit a sense of Presence as the facilitator and bring in safety in the relational space that’s critical.
Tarab Ling, Dehradun
This workshop will span over 3 days from Feb 9-11, 2024 and will be held in a retreat format in the beautiful settings of Tarab Ling, a retreat Center in Dehradun. Surrounded by lush hilly forest and mountains, the campus offers a cozy place for learning and discovery. The natural settings by itself provide a perfect container and interlude to our exploration and learning of the topic.
The small group of not more than 20 participants will also act as a container for our exploration under the able facilitation and guidance by Sandy Dias Andrade, a trauma and attachment resolution therapist and an internationally certified Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) teacher.
1. Understanding the phenomenology of living with trauma imprints, the physiology involved in trauma and the need for a felt sense of safety. Drawing from somatic psychology and trauma resolution approaches, we will examine the following, understanding how to bring it into facilitating mindfulness for individuals and groups.
2. Why Mindfulness practices can dysregulate the nervous system and gaining practical tools and skills to support the nervous system, so people can benefit from the transformational power of Mindfulness practices.
3. Understanding the essence of Mindfulness, coming into a sense of Presence, and how practices can be modified without diluting the essence of the practice while taking into account individual differences.
